Buckhaven Learning Center
http://www.buckhaven.org/
Buckhaven Learning Center is located in the heart of Mohican Country in Loudonville, Ohio. We were founded to assist
physically disabled persons and able bodied youth with a major emphasis placed on reaching people who have never been exposed to the great outdoors! Our programs are made possible by contributions from companies, organizations,
and individuals who generously support us. As support builds, we will continually extend our efforts and services offered to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and our able bodied youth. If you would like to volunteer for one of our special events, or might have an idea for something we could do to further our Mission Statement, please let us know! Buckhaven Learning Center is host to an all-expense paid archery deer hunt for the Combat Wounded Veterans. This very
special event is held at our facility in Loudonville, Ohio. We give twelve disabled Veterans the opportunity to harvest whitetail Deer. It also provides many opportunities and possibilities for our hunters to develop a special bond with one another and the community. They realize the ethical and therapeutic values of getting outdoors to experience the woods, water, and field. We care about the quality of life for these Vets and we know most are on fixed incomes. Our goal is to give them the opportunity to make friends that will last for a "LIFETIME."

We work to make life a bit brighter for our troops and also for the children around them.
In one month the following was sent to a company of Marines serving in Afghanistan: 360 toy cars, 432 stuffed animals, 144 baby blankets, about 4000 lollipops, 1500 Tootsie Rolls, and 1296 Tootsie Pops for them to give to children. We sent them 6000 pairs of disposable hand warmers, about 650 pounds of comfort food including items such as granola bars, pretzels, cheezits, cookies, crackers, and many other such items. We also provided them with seven hand-held GPS units with databases for Iraq and Afghanistan.
At about the same time, an army unit in Iraq received 100 4-ply regulation soccer balls, 384 rubber punch balloons, miniature soccer balls for small children, 96 Fleece baby blankets 384 packages ofcrayons and 360 coloring books of 192 pages each. Supplemental equipment enabled the men to construct a playing field and form a seven team soccer league for youngsters between 12 and 17 years of age. Heroes In Action
http://worknotes.com/
The marines, soldiers, airmen, sailors, and coast guard have a mission - to PROTECT our country, our families, and our children. Freedom is not free. We also have a mission - to SUPPORT, communicate, send care packages overseas, and to encourage the families here at home.
The first care packages were shipped in December 2004 and have been shipped every month since then. We have shipped thousands of boxes overseas as well as several in state to the wounded or those on special days who are without family. When a service member is added to our list, whether in or out of the states, they are supported by letters and/or a monthly care package. Our outreach has touched thousands of men and women serving our country.
Heroes in Action also is a support for the families with personal needs, housing and auto repairs, food baskets, newborn baskets, blankets for the wounded and whatever else we are able to do.
Honor Flight Network
www.honorflight.org/
Transport America's veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. GOAL:Helping every single veteran in America, willing and able of getting on a plane or a bus, visit THEIR memorial. PRIORITY:Top priority is given to America's most senior heroes — survivors of World War II and any veteran with a terminal illness who wishes to visit THEIR memorial. The program will naturally transition to Korean War, Vietnam War and all other veterans who served, on a chronological basis. ELIGIBILITY:All men and women serving stateside or overseas. PHILOSOPHY:Since America felt it was important to build a memorial to the service and the ultimate sacrifice of her veterans, the Honor Flight Network believes it's equally important that they actually get to visit and experience THEIR memorial.
The Lima Company Memorial
http://www.limacompanymemorial.org/
The Lima Company Memorial:
The Eyes of Freedom, is a remembrance for all who have answered the call of service. The Memorial now travels to tell the story of love and sacrifice, as a reminder of the great price men & women are willing to pay for their country.
The Lima Company Memorial, The Eyes of Freedom was created as a result of a vision of an Ohio artist, in which she saw the finished memorial and felt she was being asked to create it. With the help of the families of the fallen and the returned Marines of L3/25, the work was created and unveiled in the Ohio State House Rotunda in 2008, as the vision foretold.
Although the paintings in this Memorial specifically depict the 23 fallen Marines from Lima 3/25, it has become much more: a Remembrance of Spirit & Choice for all who have answered the call of service. Behind each portrait we feel the hearts and spirits of the thousands of men and women who have served, fought and died for their country, in every branch of the armed forces.
It has been said, “There is no greater love than this: than one lay down his life for his friends.” These Marines and thousands more have given their lives for us. The Memorial now travels to tell the story of love and sacrifice, as a reminder of the great price men & women are willing to pay for their country. This work is offered in gratitude for their gift.

Racing 4 Vets
http://www.racing4vets.org/
Our Cincinnati, Ohio chapter is run by Racing4Vets Regional Director Kerin Banfield. The Cincinnati chapter serves veterans primarily in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. The Cincinnati chapter is focused on kart racing and works with service-disabled veterans with traumatic brain injuries (TBI), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and physical injuries.
Partnership with Veterans Administration TBI and PTSD Rehabilitation Center at Fort Thomas, Kentucky
In January 2013, Racing4Vets launched a partnership with the VA to formally include indoor kart racing as a mandatory physical and cognitive development activity in the Cincinnati Veterans Administration PTSD/TBI rehabilitation program at Fort Thomas, KY. This is an intensive program open to men and women veterans from all U.S. military branches. Approximately 20-30 veterans from the VA program attend monthly indoor kart driving events run by Racing4Vets at Full Throttle Indoor Karting in Springdale, OH. Each program provides assessment and treatment of veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and/or traumatic brain injury using a curriculum of Cognitive Processing Therapy, group and individual sessions and physical activities. Clinical studies conducted by the Veterans Administration and National Institute of Health indicate significant improvement in cognitive abilities and reduction of symptoms from participation in the PTSD/TBI program. For more information on the success of the program, see this NIH study overview and VA study (PDF file).
Kart Racing Program
Our Cincinnati chapter runs both indoor and outdoor kart racing programs. The Racing4Vets kart team runs outdoor events with the Ohio Valley Karting Association (OVKA) and World Karting Association (WKA). Our indoor kart events and Veterans Administration PTSD/TBI rehabilitation events are held at Full Throttle Indoor Karting in Springdale, OH.
